In his opinion, such a step will allow citizens to legally own and use cryptocurrency, as well as buy and sell it. The state will be able to control this gray market, thereby ensuring budget revenues in the form of tax cuts. Their volume is estimated at one trillion rubles,” Lugovoi emphasized.

The MP also believes that this will lead to the emergence of new jobs. The legalization of the sphere will change the attitude of society towards cryptocurrency, he is sure. “Now they can breathe easy, declare calmly, pay taxes calmly,” Lugovoy said.

In January, the Russian Central Bank released a report calling for a complete ban on mining and transactions with cryptocurrency in the country. The Ministry of Finance introduced the concept of digital currency control to the government. The ministry proposes to conduct all crypto operations through Russian banks, identify the participants in the transaction, and divide clients between qualified and unqualified investors.
