The US calls on cryptocurrency exchanges to join sanctions against Russia

The administration of US President Joe Biden has called on cryptocurrency exchanges to ensure that sanctioned Russian individuals and entities cannot use digital currencies to circumvent the restrictions. Information on this subject was provided by the Bloomberg agency.

A Binance spokesman said the exchange does not plan to foreclose access to the trading platform for all Russian users without exception but has already taken steps to identify sanctioned individuals. FTX and Coinbase are also working with the US president's administration, Bloomberg sources say.
The head of the Kraken cryptocurrency exchange, Jesse Powell, said the platform has no plans to block users from Russia yet but could do so if such a request is received from US authorities or other countries.
